Visa Requirements
A valid passport with a Myanmar entry visa is required. Visas are valid
for 28 days stay. Visa on arrival is granted only with prior
arrangement.
Climate and Weather Myanmar is a year round destination and has three main seasons. The
hot season runs from March to mid May, the rainy season from mid May to
early October, and the cool season from mid October through until the
end of February. Each seasons has its own attraction, and even during
the rainy season, there are many days of clear blue skies, and the
landscapes are green and lush.

Currency Myanmar currency is the kyat. Currency notes are issued in
denominations of Ks. 1000, 500, 200, 100, 50, 20, 10, 5, 1. US$ are
accepted at most hotels, airlines, international restaurants and
shops. Credit cards are only accepted at a very few major hotels,
airlines, shops and restaurants we suggest to bring a sufficient
amount of US $ each for personal expenses.
Religion The majority of the Myanmar people are Buddhist. The rest are
Christian, Muslim, Hindu and animist.
Language The majority of the people speak Myanmar. English understood widely
throughout the country.
Clothing Casual and light clothing is recommended year round. A cardigan or
warm clothing will be advisable for visits to northern Myanmar and Shan
State in the winter months of November to January. An umbrella for sun
or rain is suggested. Sandals or slippers that are easily removed are
recommended for monasteries and temples since all footwear and socks
must not be worn in those sacred places.
Getting into Myanmar Myanmar is served internationally by Air China, Bangladesh
Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Air Indian,
Malaysia Airlines, Mandarin Airlines, Myanmar Airways Int’l Airlines,
Silk Air, Thai Airways International, Thai Air Asia, Air Mandalay links Yangon with Chiang Mai. Phuket Air serves Bangkok, Thailand and Mandalay.
Travel inside Myanmar Air Mandalay and Air Bagan operate flights to Bagan, Mandalay,
Heho (Inle Lake), Thandwe (Ngapali Beach), Sittwe (Mrauk Oo), Kyaing
Tong, Tachileik. Other modes of transport are train and bus (city-wise
and inter-state), taxi and trishaw.
Airport Departure Tax In Yangon and Mandalay, US$ 10 per person is payable for
departures on international flights. There are currently no airport
taxes for domestic flights.
